Ask five carpet cleaning companies which method they use and you'll probably get five different answers - and just as many opinions on which one is "better." At Clean Customs, we use two professional-grade methods: truck-mounted hot water extraction and low-moisture encapsulation. Neither one is a budget option or an upgrade - they're both fully professional processes, and we charge the same price no matter which one your carpet needs.
Here's how the two methods actually differ, and how we decide which one to bring to your job.
This is our primary method, and it's what most people picture when they think of professional carpet cleaning. High-temperature water is injected deep into the carpet fibers under pressure, then immediately extracted back out with powerful truck-mounted suction - pulling dirt, allergens, and bacteria up from deep in the pile, not just off the surface.
It's the most thorough clean available, which is why it's our default recommendation for most homes. The tradeoff is drying time: carpets are typically dry in 6-12 hours afterward.
This method uses a fraction of the water. A crystallizing cleaning solution is worked into the carpet, where it surrounds (encapsulates) dirt particles as it dries. Once dry, those crystallized particles are simply vacuumed away.
Because so little moisture goes into the carpet, drying time drops to about 2-4 hours - a real advantage if you need a room back in use quickly, or if you're maintaining carpet between deeper cleanings.
Does one cost more than the other? No. Whichever method your carpet needs, the price is the same. We choose the method based on your carpet and situation, not as an upsell.
A few things factor into the call on any given job:
I inspect the carpet before I start and tell you which method I'm using and why - not after the fact, and never as a surprise upcharge.
